Terms & Conditions – Tape2Digital

1. General

By sending media to Tape2Digital or submitting a quote form, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

Tape2Digital provides media digitisation services for personal and non-commercial use.


2. Media Condition & Customer Responsibility

Customers are responsible for ensuring media is in suitable condition for transfer.

We are unable to process tapes with:

  • Severe mould contamination

  • Significant structural damage

  • Water damage

  • Broken or unstable casings

Items received in this condition may be returned unprocessed.

If you are unsure of your tape’s condition, please get in contact with clear photos before sending.


3. Fragile & Deteriorated Media

All transfers involving fragile, aged, or deteriorated media are undertaken at the customer’s risk.

While every care is taken, Tape2Digital cannot be held responsible for:

  • Pre-existing damage

  • Media deterioration during normal playback

  • Tape breakage caused by weakened or unstable material

  • Loss of content due to media condition

If a tape shows signs of failure during transfer, we reserve the right to stop the process to prevent further damage.


4. Limitation of Liability

Tape2Digital’s liability is limited to the cost of the transfer service provided.

We are not liable for:

  • Loss of irreplaceable content

  • Indirect or consequential loss

  • Damage caused by latent defects within the media

Customers acknowledge that analogue media naturally degrades over time.


5. Mould Contamination

To protect our equipment and other customers’ media, we do not accept tapes with heavy mould contamination.

Severely mould-damaged items may be refused and returned.


6. Data Storage & Retention

Digitised files are stored for 30 days from the date you are notified your transfer is complete.

After 30 days, files are permanently deleted.

Customers are responsible for downloading and backing up their files within this period.


7. Payment Terms

An invoice will be issued once work is complete unless agreed otherwise.

Payment must be received before original media and/or digital copies are returned.


8. Shipping

Customers are responsible for safe packaging and shipping to Tape2Digital.

We strongly recommend recorded or tracked next day delivery.

Return shipping risk passes to the customer once dispatched.

Tape2Digital is not responsible for items lost or damaged in transit.


9. Copyright

By submitting media, you confirm that you are the legal owner of the content or have permission to reproduce it.

Tape2Digital accepts no responsibility for copyright infringement.
